We are the Sigma Delta Chapter of Pi Tau Sigma, the national mechanical engineering honor society.

Our organization strives to create better engineers through commitments to service, integrity, leadership, and academic excellence.

What is Pi Tau Sigma?

Pi Tau Sigma is a national honor society in the field of mechanical engineering. The organization was founded at the University of Illinois-Champagne on March 16th, 1915. Since then, over 180 collegiate chapters have been established at universities in the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Our Sigma Delta Chapter was established on May 21st of 1964.

The mission of Pi Tau Sigma is as follows:
1. Foster high ideals in the engineering profession
2. Stimulate interest in departmental activities
3. Promote the general welfare of its members
4. Prepare students for leadership roles

Our chapter has about 40 members each semester, and over 20 PTS alumni in the mechanical engineering department. Members are chosen on a merit basis, with the top 25% of the junior class, and top 33% of the senior class eligible to join. Our organization's activities include: service events (The Big Event, LemonTree Park Clean Up, BUILD Volunteering), social events (pledge board painting, Big Shots golfing, game nights), and professional events (company presentations, industry speakers, networking).
